Treatment abroad
Sometimes, a treatment is available abroad that is not offered in the Netherlands. This is usually part of a medical research study (clinical trial), meaning that researchers are still investigating whether the treatment is effective and safe. Do you want to know more? Discuss this with your treating physician. Your physician can guide you, weigh the pros and cons with you, and, if your child is eligible, contact the hospital abroad. They can also arrange for your child’s medical records to be sent. Whether a treatment abroad is reimbursed depends on your health insurance.

Crowdfunding
Are you considering crowdfunding to cover the costs? You can ask the Dutch Childhood Cancer Association (Vereniging Kinderkanker Nederland) for advice via info@kinderkankernederland.nl or 030 242 2944. They offer tips and recommendations for reliable platforms but does not provide financial assistance.
