MRI scan

MRI scans (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) provide a detailed image of organs and body parts using magnetic fields. That is why you and your child may not wear clothing and jewelry containing metal in the MRI room.

During treatment, your child will have many tests and procedures. A child life specialist helps your child, and you, prepare for these.

Your child lies on a table that slides slowly through the opening of the MRI scan. Your child must lie still for a long time. A vacuum mattress can help keep your child comfortable. The device makes loud clicking sounds. MRIs take 30-60 minutes.

Practice MRI

Our medical pedagogical care providers can help you prepare and support your child. A practice MRI is available at the Princess Máxima Center for that purpose.
