Share your experience

The experiences of children, parents or caregivers, and survivors are an important source for improving care at the Princess Máxima Center. That’s why we regularly ask about your experiences through questionnaires.

We’d like to know: what do you think of the care? Do doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals clearly explain the illness and treatment? Do you and your child feel safe and comfortable at the Máxima Center?

Reliable measurement

We measure your experiences using the Patient Experience Monitor (PEM), which is used in all Dutch hospitals. The PEM was developed together with patients and is based on the principles of person-centered care of the Picker Institute.

These principles are:

  • Quick access to reliable care

  • Effective treatment by trustworthy healthcare professionals

  • Continuity of care

  • Involvement of and support for family and loved ones

  • Clear information, communication, and support with care

  • Shared decision-making in the treatment process

  • Emotional support, empathy, and respect

  • Attention to physical and environmental aspects

How does it work?

Usually, three weeks after your visit or hospital stay, you will receive an email invitation to complete a digital questionnaire. You can fill it out at home on your computer, smartphone, or tablet. The questionnaire is sent by an independent research agency, Expoints, which processes the responses and reports the results to the Máxima Center.

Voluntary and confidential

Taking part in the PEM is voluntary and has no impact on the care we provide. Your answers are processed anonymously. We do not know who received or completed a questionnaire.

If you no longer wish to receive questionnaires, you can unsubscribe via the link in the invitation email.

You can read how we handle your data on our Privacy page, which also contains our privacy statement.

What do we do with the results?

We compare the results from our teams, departments, and other (children’s) hospitals. This helps us learn from each other and continuously improve our care. The results are also used by the Dutch Hospital Association (NVZ) for national comparisons between hospitals.

Questions or objections

Do you have any questions? Or would you prefer that we do not share your name and email address with Expoints for sending the questionnaire? Please email us at info@prinsesmaximacentrum.nl
