Jasper van der Lugt

Together with the neurosurgeon and the neurologist, I care for children with a brain tumor. I coordinate their treatment and am responsible for the medical therapy.

In addition to my clinical work, I conduct research into new treatment methods, with a special focus on immunotherapy, a type of treatment that uses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer.

I work closely with international research networks such as ITCC (Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer) and PNOC (Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium). Within these collaborations, I also focus on biological correlative research, which studies what happens in the body during clinical trials by examining blood, cerebrospinal fluid and stool (the microbiome).

My goal is to ensure that every child who needs it can take part in an innovative study that offers hope for a better future.
