An introduction to pediatric oncology: e-learning for healthcare professionals

The e-learning module “Introduction to Pediatric Oncology” is designed for healthcare professionals outside the Princess Máxima Center who treat or support children with cancer and/or their families.

About the e-learning

This module introduces pediatric oncology and covers both general background information and case studies for further learning. It is freely accessible for healthcare professionals outside the Princess Máxima Center.

Because of its general setup, the module is suitable for professionals with little or no experience in pediatric oncology, such as those working in primary care, general hospitals or rehabilitation centers.

The interactive module consists of five chapters:

  • Chapter 1 introduces pediatric oncology. You will get to know the Princess Máxima Center, learn about the different types of childhood cancer, and gain insight into side effects and late effects.
  • Chapters 2 to 4 each focus on a different case study. In each case, you go through various aspects of the treatment as well as the experiences of the child and family. This gives you a clear picture of the impact of childhood cancer on children and families, the importance of quality of life, and the different disciplines involved.
  • The final chapter looks back on your experiences in the module.

Completing the e-learning takes about 60 minutes and can be paused and resumed at any time.
