Laura (12): 'The KLIK questions are easy and quite fun to answer before I go to the doctor'

The Smulders family first clicked on the KLIK portal in the fall of 2020. Daughter Laura, then 10 years old, was being treated at the Princess Máxima Center and her pediatric oncologist informed them about the KLIK portal. They have been loyal users ever since. Father Rob: ‘Laura now has one or two check-up visits a year. We fill out the questions about a week prior to the appointment at the Máxima Center. Especially the questions about Laura's well-being are important to us. It's nice if the doctor has an idea of this prior to the appointment, so it can be taken into account.’

Mental preparation

Laura finds it 'easy and quite fun' to fill in the questions in KLIK. Rob: 'For her it is also a kind of mental preparation for the visit to the Máxima Center. As parents, we find KLIK a pleasant preparation for the appointment with the doctor. Because there is sometimes a longer time between appointments, it is a practical way to inform the doctor in advance about Laura's current situation.'

Taking stock

KLIK is a tool for assessing the child's situation in a structured way. 'Filling it out takes little time. There are numerous questions, not all of which we ask ourselves periodically. That's why it's nice to take stock (in full) prior to an appointment using KLIK. That way no point can escape your attention,' says Rob.
