Prinses Máxima Centrum

Weekend of Science

On Sunday, October 2, the Princess Máxima Center opens its doors to curious children aged 8 to 15 and their parents. Would you like to learn more about our research into childhood cancer? Then come and visit us during the Weekend of Science
In an interactive way, children will meet researchers and learn about how we work towards our mission: to cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. Through various experiments, they discover the scientific world in a playful manner.

For example, children can recreate a piece of their DNA using candy based on their own hair color. Researchers also show how they examine tumors on the computer and children can practice with this themselves. In addition, during the Máxima lectures it is explained how child cancer arises and how we can remove the tumor even better during surgery. For a look behind the scenes, join one of the guided tours of the Máxima Center laboratories.
